The Goosebump Enhancers // Alt-J // Bahamas // Kishi Bashi // Toro Y Moi // AMTRAC

I know I always go on and on and on about Alt-J, but I can't help it. A really good friend of mine sent me their An Awesome Wave vinyl as a housewarming gift, and I have to tell you, the purity of their sound on a vinyl is nothing short of spiritual. This song in particularly, at around 3:29...I get chills, and I tear up. It's an overwhelming sensation that I never want to let go.
Also, if anyone in the greater NYC area has an extra ticket to Alt-J, I will write for you, pray for you, and give my first born up for a ticket.

My new boss/co-worker/musical confidant/long lost kindred spirit showed me this song, and the SOUL that pours forth is so natural, so groovy and so honest. A rarity in music now a days.

" " " " - He showed me this guy too, Kishi Bashi, and I think I may have whimpered out of utter bewilderment by how INCREDIBLE his sound was. You see and hear some musicians souls when they play music, and this guy is definitely one of them.

A little Disclosure-ish, a little Joe G-ish, a little awesome and fun and dancey and amazing and groovy and jammy.

Toro Y Moi - Never Matter

I think this is my favorite from Toro y Moi's album. Actually maybe it comes in second to "Say That" but everyone knows that one and I had to be different somehow! Kidding. Also, don't you think "Rose Quartz" could potentially have the dopest remix of all time!? PAGING JOE GODDARD.

Disclosure - White Noise

Sorry I'm a little late, I've been preoccupied. BUT YAY.

Alison Valentine - Warm Winters Day

Her voice is so sweet, and her music makes me want to be in the heat of the Miami sun. This one in particular, "Warm Winters Day" is the perfect song to warm you up a bit on these bitterly cold days.

Check out the article I wrote on her on SNS Post HERE.

Kirk Spencer // James Blake

"Where do you go when you lose your mind?" You go right here.

A beautiful dark masterpiece by Kirk Spencer and stunningly haunting vocals by Safia May.

And James Blake you sexy boy, you.

This is just gorgeous in all senses of the word.

Prince Club - Let Me Go (Just - Listen)

Well this is fun. With respect to our fabulous mentor the Miss Britney Spears.

Along the lines of our friends Le Youth & Cyril Hahn, this track takes words from an old school gem and remakes it into something flossy.

LIZ - Underdogs feat. RIFF RAFF

"You're not my homie, you just a ho. Bright shining pony? Well guess what, bitch I'm a unicorn."

Inspiring.

You know the saying "guilty pleasure"? This is the end all be all of guilty pleasures. I can't help it! RIFF RAFF YOU SUCK SO BAD AT RAPPING PLEASE STOP (but really, keep going!) And this LIZ chick, your lyrics are hysterical and I'm probably going to make some shirts out of them, but your voice is that of an angel. And the beat! I can't stop listening. Help me.

YELLE

She will always be known as the weirdest French babe on the planet.

Ah, her newest gem. I am severely digging this direction she's currently in.
Especially this song, ugh, she's such a romantic!

I know this ones old but it's new in my head and I cannot stop playing it.

MS MR - Fantasy

She's been my favorite female vocalist since I saw their first show in June. And this video, finally you get to see them. Love the colours, love her jacket, love his face. (hate his tude.)

Claptone - Wrong | Exploited

Without a doubt my new favorite video and song.
SPEAKING of a Dr. Dre beat.....

Sky Ferreira - Everything is Embarrassing (Krystal Klear Remix)

I was so into Sky back in '10 when she had super luscious hair, healthy arms and sang the Beatles over a Dr. Dre beat. She was super cool from NYC, did her own thing, had her own style, and rocked Mary Janes harder than anyone I've seen. Now I have my issues with her. It's kinda sad to see what she's turned into, but whatever her music is still tight as fuq.
Anyway
This remix rules.

gods of the Scene // Disclosure / Joe Goddard //

Disclosure - White Noise (feat. AlunaGeorge)

I mean it's almost insulting to the rest of us how good these boys are. How do they do it? We'll never know. We'll just sit and listen in bliss and seethe jealousy because we aspiring producers and musicians realize how untalented we actually are.

Arlissa - Sticks and Stones (Joe Goddard Remix)

He is and always will be a god in the music world. He is and always will be my favorite. He is and will be the best show I'll see come April.

FEMALES RULE // Moon Holiday / George Maple / Syron / Alison Valentine / MS MR

Since I'm on my major feminist kick again, because all men are lying sacks of shit who are intimidated by intelligence and dignity, I'm going to put up some of my recent favorites by some lovely ladies who are ruling the music scene.

Moon Holiday - Switching Sides

You first heard her (I assume because it's when I did) on Flume's album on the track "Insane" which was one of the most brilliant off that album. This Aussie beaut has been in the scene for a while now, and her music is so calming and her voice is so smooth, I just can't seem to remove myself from her sound. This song in particular is the definition of appreciation of the simple things in life.

George Maple - Uphill

And yet again, noticed her because of her vocal contribution to "Bring You Down" off of Flume's album. Her voice is one powerful force, and although this may be her only track alone, I can not wait to hear what else this girl has got up her sleeve.

Syron - Here

I called it from day one, this bad b was going FAR. And she has. She rules. She's so well respected, and her music is just getting tastier and tastier. This song could use a DOPE remix by Goldroom or Dippy or someone.

Alison Valentine - Peanut Butter (Moon Boots Remix)

It took me a damn minute and a half to fall in love with this track, but I finally did and now I can't get enough of it. Her voice is so feminine, so light, so perfect. And you can't help but be in a good mood when this remix is playing.

MS MR - Fantasy

Yeah I know it's a guy and a girl, but her soulful voice is enough to speak well of female artists everywhere. Their ego's may be a little giant (I'm still not over his rudeness when we met in Brooklyn), but their music is so damn good.

Dis Be Dat Good Shit // Goldroom / Rita Ora / 2 Bears / Pyramid / Monarchy / Mike Luck

Charli XCX - You (Ha Ha Ha) Goldroom Remix

I mean Josh Legg pretty much knows exactly what he's doing with every song he touches. And somehow listening to every song he touches makes me want to be on South Beach and it makes me feel REALLY happy on the inside.

Rita Ora - Shine Your Light (2 Bears Remix)

2 Bears is greatest duo known to mankind: Joe Goddard & Raf Rundell, the happiest, jolliest DJ's in all the land. OBVIOUSLY anything having to do with Joe Goddard is straight gold to me, and this Rita Ora song was just screaming for an edit. This is definitely on my top 10 right now.

Pyramid - Wolf

o0o0o this one gets my heart going. I mean Pyramid usually does, but this one in particular I don't know it makes me want to go drive a really fast car or rob a bank or something, but with Ralph Macchio back in the 80's.

Monarchy - Disintegration (feat. Dita V T)

UGH Monarchy steals my soul and eats it every time they come out with something new. They are so brilliant and sexy and really know what to do with the human ethos. And Dita, you wicked babe, you. Amazing track, wonderfully done video. All in all, major job.

Monarchy feat. Dita Von Teese - Disintegration (Mike Luck Remix)

And here's a fun remix by Mike Luck who did a really really good job. Good job Mike!

Far East Movement x Rell the Soundbender – I Ain’t Coming Down ft. Mathew Koma & Sidney Sampson (Yeah I’m Trippin Mix)

I have not relapsed into a song like this is a damn minute, but I can't help it with this one. The vocals are sexy, his face is sexy, and I just get way too stoked for festival season when this is rolling.

TUNESQUAD // Is Tropical / KASH / BenZel / Tiga / Duke Dumont //

Is Tropical - Land of the Nod (Xinobi Remix)

EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW THAT THIS SONG EXISTS. What a feel good, dance alone in your house, smile on your face kind of track. It's just one of the happiest songs ever and what a charming buildup it has for that moment at 2:37.

KASH - Long Way From Home (Viceroy Remix)

I don't know a thing about Kash. BUT I LIKE WHAT I HEAR SO FAR. How freaking happy and sunny is this remix?? Doesn't it remind you of the beach and sand and Miami?? I'm totally not at all one who likes to reminisce of summer in the winter months, but I just can't help feeling happy and warm inside when this song is playing.

BenZel - Fallin' Love

I swear to you, I thought these girls were going to be a one hit wonder. They had that gem with Jessie Ware, but considering the fact that these two are only 15 and 16 years of age, I did NOT think they had it in them.
Well, I was clearly mistaken. Kudos, and I envy your talent at such a young age.

Tiga - Plush (Jacques lu Cont Remix)

YAY Tiga, YAY Jacques lu Cont. It's been a while since I caught a good Tiga track that pleased my sense, but this one definitely got me going. It's the PERFECT dance dirty night time track.

Duke Dumont - Need U (100%)

Once again, so overly pleased that he rolled through with another goodie. The Giver went crazy popular, and I have a feeling the same thing is going to happen with this one.

Major Lazer - Jah No Partial (feat. Flux Pavillion)

Crowds at festivals make me overly excited. So as much as I hate the Dip, this is the most exciting video I've seen in a bit, and it makes me SO EXCITED for Miami in March. Even though it's like 14 years away.

Tuneage RAC / Mikky Ekko / Ryan Hemsworth / Clean Bandit

RAC - Climbing Up the Walls (feat. Liz Anjos)

Oh the Massive Attack feel I get from this song is just off the charts. It's been too long since I've heard something so dark and ominous. Also, Liz Anjos sounds exactly like Shirley Manson in "Cherry Lips" which is another reason why this song clung onto my soul. Dark music and pretty female vocals and I am sold.

Mikky Ekko - Pull Me Down (Ryan Hemsworth remix)

"PULL ME DOWN IF YOU WANT TO"...not only are the lyrics beauteous and totally adorable, but Mikky Ekko is really hot and Ryan Hemsworth made the whole song SUPER hot by doing his thing on this track. Great teamwork, everyone.

Pacific Air - Float (RAC remix)

Oh my God. Like oh my God this song is so unbelievably good. I'm down with RAC remixes, but I'm going to go ahead and say that this is probably one of their best. It's definitely different than what they usually do, but MY GOODNESS keep doing it. Doesn't listening to this song make you want to do drugs or dance someplace dirty or like....not do the dishes one night? Really brings out the badass in you.

UHHHM. Right, so this band exists. A classically trained classical four-some that has turned classical music into modern magic.

Katy B

Katy B released a riddle baby EP for us, just to tide us over before her LP drops. Once again, it's amazing.

Katy B - Got Paid

Every Friday from now on (hell, after every day I work) I blast this on my drive home.

Katy B - Light as a Feather

Diplo seriously on this track, I know. BUT he did a damn good job, like he always does, even though I hate to admit it. "They be hatin on my name but my beats they love." At least he knows it. But great collab guys, REALLY sexy track.

There are two more that accompany this tasty little track sesh of hers. "Aaliyah" and "Danger" are both bangers in themselves, so head over to her website for a kind free download.

Also. This song. And video. And Mark Ronson. I don't know why it took me so long to find this track. Bad, Allie.

Mark Ronson, Katy B - Anywhere in the World

Sigur Ros - Leaning Towards Solace

Obviously any Sigur Ros video is going to bring tears streaming down your face, but this one in particular, oh man. Father vs daughter anything and I am touched emotionally more than ever. This is the other part to the Valtari Mystery Film Experiment, if you haven't seen "Fjogur Piano" with Shia LeBouf, I suggest you do so. The video for "Valtari" again, get on it. The dancing is more emotive than ever, and the space it was filmed in is fantastic. Sigur Ros creates the visual to what the audio does to the soul.
